Event problems

I enjoy this game quite a bit, and was very excited for the ninja event. However upon starting the ninja quest, the screen during battle still had elements from the main screen such as the start button taking up the whole bottom, upgrade icons, and lots of clouds all blocking the play area including the wizard and wall health. I played 2 levels like this. Then When I reopened the app, the ninja option was just gone. Very disappointed.
